Logitech V450 Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks

Logitech recently introduced a new notebook mouse, powered by the infamous Logitech Laser engine, that promises a one year battery life. Can this be true? Read on after the jump to figure it out.

Highlight

Logitech today announced the Logitech® V450 Laser Cordless Mouse for Notebooks, a perfect blend of comfort, performance and reliability in a portable design. The V450 mouse’s soft rubber grip and contoured shape provide exceptional comfort. Its battery life of up to one year minimizes the hassle of changing batteries. Laser technology delivers smooth cursor control and precision tracking on virtually any surface. And, Logitech´s 2.4 GHz digital cordless technology provides a robust wireless connection. The plug-and-play USB micro-receiver tucks away neatly inside the mouse´s storage slot when not in use — making it a great traveler. Available in Europe and the U.S. beginning in July, the V450 mouse has a suggested retail price of $49.99 in the U.S.

Introduction

You may be wondering about the one hour battery life I mentioned above, it’s not exactly true yet, because we don’t know if it will last one year (for obvious reasons).

Features

Nothing special, it’s a regular notebook-sized mouse with the traditional left and right click, and also vertical/horizontal scrolling on the scroll wheel. The overall acceleration of the mouse is excellent and the miniscule receiver is stowed neatly under the mouse for on and off operation.

Logitech bundles the mouse with it’s SetPoint software allowing you to keep tabs on things from the battery life, to scrolling and acceleration. The soft rubber grip on the mouse is excellent and very comforting with the contour of your hand, I had no problems grasping the mouse in my hand, and despite it’s size, it is very easy to use.

Verdict

Overall, while no new features except the one year battery life, the mouse is rock-solid, and it’s a great mouse for travelers on-the-go.

Availability

The Logitech V450 Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks is not yet available, but we’ll let you know when it is.

As of November 4, 2006 the V450 is now available for $49.99 from all major computer retailers and from Amazon.com.
