The Sinking Barge by Crumpler Bags

If you’ve ever looked for the perfect laptop or photography backpack, you know it’s a challenge. Which one fits your camera perfect (in addition to it’s accessories) and also fits your laptop or notebook perfect? The Crumpler “Sinking Barge” laptop and photo backpack was the perfect choice for my needs.

Camera Storage

As a Nikon D50 Digital SLR owner, I know that it’s hard for people to carry all their photography equipment in one single bag, in fact, it’s nearly impossible if you need advanced equipment. While this bag can’t fit more than two lenses at once, it can fit all the accessories you need for your day or night expedition. The camera area of this backpack is fully-padded, and well designed for easy access.

Laptop Storage

On the laptop side of things, Crumpler doesn’t stop innovating there. Provided with the backpack is a study laptop sleeve built into the laptop compartment of the backpack which provides all the safety and protection for your precious computer on the go. Although located in the back of the backpack right up against your body, nothing will get damaged due to the durable padding (see below).

Comfort

If you use a normal off the shelf or other-brand backpack, you’ll find that comfort can be an issue after walking around with a heavy four to five pound backpack all day. The Sinking Barge backpack by Crumpler provides a sturdy and durable comfort zone on the back surface of the ‘pack to help make those walks across town a breeze. Speaking of comfort, I did find the carry-strap a bit small and uncomfortable for my hands, but your mileage may vary.

Final Verdict

Overall, I found no problems whatsoever with this backpack and I would recommend it to anyone who is an amateur and professional photographer who uses a portable laptop computer for post-production use. If you’re a regular laptop user, or need something a bit different, check out Crumpler’s bizarre but cool website. Although a bit expensive, it’s definitely worth it.

Spark’d Rating: 4.5 out of 5 sparks. Very good with one minor flaw (carry-strap too small)
