Shure E500PTH Sound Isolating Earbuds

I recently had the privilege to try out Shure Personal Audio's latest product, the E500PTH earbuds. The secret behind these earbuds is the PTH or push to hear technology. As with all sound isolating earbuds, you constantly have to jam them in your ear in order to get the most optimal sound quality (okay, not jamming them, but still) and when someone needs to talk to you, yank them out and afterwards, put them back in which is quite annoying and personally time wasting. Shure's PTH technology is nothing but a microphone unit that clips to your clothing and allows you at the flick of a switch to hear the outside world, without having to constantly take your earbuds out, and put them back in. It's genius.

I've been using these earbuds for a couple of weeks now, and they are amazing from the superb sound quality to the excellent and simple design. The PTH module worked excellent when used indoors and outdoors, and also allows you to adjust the gain level of the microphone.

The Shure E500PTH sound isolating earbuds came in a sleek and sexy brushed metal cubed box. Along with the earbuds themselves, Shure provides you with an array of tips that include: small, medium, and large flex and clear flex sleeves; and a universal fit of foam and triple flange sleeves. Shure notes that to get the best sound quality out of their products, that you do put them comfortably in your ear, not too far to touch your eardrum. I used these earbuds with my 4th-generation iPod and they worked great, and should work fine with decently powered MP3 players. You do not have to use the PTH module with the E500PTH earbuds, which makes them a bit more lightweight.

The only downside of these earbuds is they are extremely expensive, running at a price of $499, but are well worth it if you are an audiophile. I suggest you stick with your stock iPod earbuds if you're more of a basic music listener. Nonetheless, these earbuds are a great addition to your music device and sounded great with all kinds of music.
