For the past few weeks, I’ve had the chance to take a look at both the BT620s Stereo Bluetooth Headphones, and the A125s iPod Bluetooth adapter both from Jabra.

Bluetooth technology has become much more of a necessity with hands-free car kits, Bluetooth headsets, and now headphones. If you don’t know about Bluetooth, it was announced on May 20, 1998, and Bluetooth 1.0 was released shortly thereafter. Since then, Bluetooth 2.0 has spawned and is showing up in more and more products every month.

The BT620s Stereo Bluetooth Headphones allow you to take phone calls, and listen to your music (iPod or standard mini-jack) seamlessly. The BT620s’ charge via a mini USB cable and can be powered for 16 hours talking on the phone; 14 hours listening to music. In order to listen to your music, Jabra requires the purchase of either the A120s with a mini-jack connector, or the A125s (reviewed in this article) for the iPod using the 30-pin dock connector. You can also use the BT620s headphones/headset with a PC using the included USB cable as well.

During our testing, we found a background hiss to be persistent while using the BT620s headphones, being a problem, it was not particularly annoying to us when using them. Quality from both the A125s iPod Bluetooth adapter and the headphones was great, and was outstanding considering what Bluetooth audio has sounded like in the past.

Pairing the two devices was easy and quick to do, with a few steps to read inside the owner’s manual of each device, we had the two paired within 2 minutes. As I mentioned before, you can also pair a mobile phone in addition to your music device for non-stop use of the headphones.

One thing we didn’t like about the BT620s was it’s weight and size, the behind the neck headphones became particularly uncomfortable after a long period of use and we would have liked them to be a little more compact and light.

Overall, we found the BT620s and A125s products from Jabra to be great and we can recommend them if you have the ears to support the bulky style and weight of the BT620s.

Final Verdict
3.5 out of 5 stars.

Pros

  • Great audio quality.
  • Easy to pair.
  • Ability to take calls and listen to music.

Cons

  • The weight of the headphones were uncomfortable even after short periods of time.
  • Background feedback while using headphones.
