Altec Lansing PT6021 Speaker System

Altec Lansing, a major manufacturer of consumer and personal audio equipment has recently introduced its first foray into the "home theater" market with the PT6021 2.1 stereo speakers.
You may be wondering what the PT stands for, as Altec Lansing also offers the FX6021. The FX6021 are basically the same speakers as the PT6021 but in silver and don't include a universal remote. The 'PT' stands for personal theater and these speakers are truly a personal theater when you hear them.
The PT6021 speaker system consists of two main speakers, a subwoofer, and a control pod with remote. The system also includes a cheaply made universal remote for your home theater, if you want to use these speakers with your television. We found that the regular remote worked fine for controlling the speakers. The PT6021 speakers were very easy to setup and took about 30 minutes total from start to finish. Just plug in both speakers, the control pod into the subwoofer, and plug the subwoofer into a power socket. The speakers also came with mounting brackets for mounting on the side of your television, and stands for use on your computer desk or tabletop.
On the audio side of things, the PT6021 put out great sound and the subwoofer put out enough bass to occupy a true home theater. Unlike the previously reviewed Logitech X-540 speakers, the control pod can be placed virtually anywhere and is not permanently attached to the subwoofer. Another thing we liked is that the PT6021's packed the power of the X-540 into only two speakers, compared to five, but if you prefer to have more speakers for surround sound, go for the X-540's instead.
Overall, the Altec Lansing PT6021 speakers were great at playing back any kind of audio. The Altec Lansing PT6021 speakers are available now for $349.95 MSRP.
