Microsoft’s new touch display computer: “Surface”

Microsoft has taken the wraps off what looks like will be a competitor to Apple's Multi-Touch technology used on the iPhone, it's what they call Microsoft Surface.
In what they hope will be a long line of "Surface" computers, Microsoft has developed technology that will allow users to navigate around without a keyboard or mouse. Although the Surface products will not be available to consumers, three businesses have been selected to become the first companies to utilize the technology. Harrah's Entertainment, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and T-Mobile; these businesses will be able to customize the applications to their liking to create distinctive experiences for the customer.
Turns out today, at the D5 Conference in Carlsbad, CA - Steve Ballmer will unveil the technology, just before Apple CEO Steve Jobs takes the stage in a historic event with Bill Gates. Should be an interesting show - we'll provide you with more coverage throughout the day.

Interestingly enough, Apple's gesture for "pinching" a photo to enlarge it on the iPhone is similar to the way Microsoft allows you to resize it on the surface and arrange them in a collage-type view.
The only details that have been released are that it is a 30-inch display powered by a DLP projector and custom made Microsoft software. If you were lucky, you were also able to see a sneak peek at the device on NBC's "The Today Show" this morning.
