Spanning Sync: Google Calendar’s best friend.

This is a great utility for all Mac folks out there, it’s called Spanning Sync and it allows you to sync your Google Calendar account with your Mac through iCal. I’ve been using it for the past 2 months and I can’t live without it! It’s a godsend for people using Google Apps like us here at Connect - everyone on the team can see what reviews are coming up, and they can make their own personal calendar privately.

Read on after the jump for a surprise offer!

Plus, with the upcoming iPhone which uses iCal - you’ll be able to sync to it too! Anything that supports the iSync app can sync your Google Calendars! Some applications only sync one way and don’t allow you to see updates on your PC or Mac - Spanning Sync syncs both ways, updates in Google Calendar appear in iCal and vice-versa.

Spanning Sync does a great job at a great price. $25 for a one-year subscription and $65 for a lifetime license. Have multiple Macs? No problem - Spanning Sync is licensed by your Google account, so you don’t have to buy separate licenses.

Final Verdict
5 out of 5 stars.

I run a rental and service company and use multiple calendars to keep my life together and customers happy. Google calendar works great for that and I have been looking at ways to sync it with my Mac. This looks PERFECT!

I use Google calendar to organize and publicize events for a large volunteer organization. Members get immediate updates by consulting the online calendar. Frequently events are planned at a location where no Internet access is available, so now I can enter events in iCal, and they later show up on the Google calendar after a sync.

Right now, I have iCal subsribe to my Google calendar. It works pretty well, and it syncs to my iPod, but it would be really nice to be able to enter information in iCal and have it sync back to Google. I’ll have to give this a try.

I used to be in the private beta until they released the pricing scheme - kinda expensive, I say. However, I’d use it again if given the free subscription. :D

I use gCal to help plan the use of our lab equipment so we don’t run over each other in our small lab. It would be nice to be able to sync via iCal.

We use Google Calendar to share cooperative calendars with our church’s youth groups. The kids can go online and see what’s happening from the web.

What a great program! I’ve been looking for something like this, it is the final link between syncing from my PDA to iCal to Google Calendar so I can see what I’ve got coming up. It is also great when I’m checking Gmail online and someone mentions a meeting, I add the date directly to Google Calendar and hopefully this should feed that info to iCal and my PDA’s calc!

I use ical and gcal to manage the schedules of therapists at our autism therapy clinic. As I spend a lot of time in the field and away from internet connection, spanning sync would allow me to make appointments and reschedule meetings that would sync automatically once I got back to a wifi connection.

Really like spanning sync so far. But the price tag is quite steep huh?

I love this application and I can’t understand why Google didn’t comeup with something similar so far! It’s a must for any Mac lover who uses GCal. I’d personally use it to keep my schedule updated between my home computer and my GCal account, while being at school. Great work!
