The iPhone release date has been confirmed: June 29th. Apple has begun airing a series of three television ads starting tonight on CBS. Each ad shows various features of the iPhone and ends with "Coming on June 29". A two year contract is required, but no other details are available (data plan, etc).
According to 9 to 5 Mac - there is no place to swap the SIM card or replace the battery and iChat is not included in the latest OS build. It could be available as a separate download. Something new is that the Safari web browser includes tabbed browsing and a VPN client for businesses is rumored.
