3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator

By now you've probably heard about Google Earth and Google SketchUp, which are both 3D-based applications that can be navigated with a mouse or keyboard. To change all that, and to give you a bit more control, there's the 3Dconnexion SpaceNavigator.
At first the SpaceNavigator looks like a slimmed-down trackball like device, but is much more than that. The device allows you to navigate Google Earth like never before. For example, pulling out on the control knob allows you to zoom out and pushing in of course, zooms in. Tilting the knob tilts the globe in Google Earth, and pushing in different directions moves your view around.

What's nice is you no longer have to use a tedious method of navigating and can actually have fun navigating through a 3D space. Now you have a reason to show off your latest model in Google SketchUp to your clients, friends, or family. It's a great experience.
The only downside is that there is a learning curve but once you get the hang of it - you'll want to open Google Earth/SketchUp everyday.
At $59 (personal edition) and $99 (standard edition) you won't be hurting after you fork over the cash for this device. The standard edition gets you a commercial use license and full support, opposed to online support and a non-commercial use license.
Pros
- Gives you a whole different 3D experience.
- Supports an array of applications.
- Not too expensive.
Cons
- Steep learning curve.
Final Verdict
5 out of 5 stars.
