iConnect: Logitech AudioStation Express

Logitech AudioStation Express

Logitech is a relatively new player in the iPod accessory market and has recently released two products in their AudioStation line. Today, we’ll be taking a look at the AudioStation Express.

The AudioStation Express is a smaller iPod speaker system that is designed to be portable and lightweight. Included with the Express are eight different dock adapters for various iPod models, a mini-jack to mini-jack audio cable, remote, an AC adapter for plugging in to a wall outlet when needed, and a neoprene carrying case.

Design wise, the AudioStation Express is very simple to operate. Just push the large volume knob on the front of the unit to pop it out, and the Express turns on. Push it back in again, and it turns off.

When it all comes down to performance, the AudioStation Express isn’t the best sounding compact system we’ve heard – the Altec Lansing iM600 takes that spot, but it is certainly a decent sounding system and for $99, you can’t go wrong. In our book though, spend the extra $50 and get an FM radio and rechargeable battery vs. no FM radio and six AA batteries with the iM600.

Pros

  • Decent but not excellent sound quality.
  • Carrying case for portability.
  • Simple operation.

Cons

  • None.

Final Verdict
4 out of 5 stars.
