Epson Stylus Photo R380, reviewed and put to the test.

Epson Stylus Photo R380

Photo printer reviews is something new we're doing at ConnectReviews, and to kick it off right we've got a great midrange photo printer from Epson, the Stylus Photo R380.

The Stylus Photo R380 is packed with features, from the huge 3.5" color display on the front for navigating through photos, to the fast printing speeds - the R380 has it all. It also has the ability to print directly onto special CDs or DVDs that are made for printing.

As with most photo printers, you also have the option to print without a computer from a memory card or from a PictBridge compatible camera. In our photo testing performance tests, the printer cranked out a 5x7 photo in less than 30 seconds or a 4x6 photo just under 15 seconds, and photo quality was amazing on all photo sizes. Crisp, clear images, and vivid colors thanks to Epson's Claria ink that lasts longer than other inks.

And when the ink ran out, we loved the ability to switch out individual ink cartridges for each color - rather than a tri-color cartridge.

All in all, the Epson Stylus Photo R380 is an excellent photo printer for the amateur photographer or the entry level digital SLR user who wants to print out quality prints, at a low price. The R380 is available today for less than $110 depending on where you look. An all-in-one version is also available.
