Jump on the satellite bandwagon with the XM XpressRC.

As we mentioned in our Sony HD Radio review, satellite radio is a much better choice because the technology has been around longer and is much more widespread. XM’s latest offering, the XpressRC, could be the best choice for those looking to hop on the satellite radio bandwagon.

The XpressRC is the only XM receiver to feature a full-color split screen display and a buffer that stores the last 60 minutes of programming for replay. The split screen display allows you to view what’s currently playing, and what’s playing on other channels - which believe me, comes in handy all the time. The XpressRC comes with the car kit, and manuals - which means if you need to hook it up to a stereo system, you’ll need to purchase the home kit for $39.99.

The XpressRC is easy to install, connect the dock to either your car or home stereo, plug in the antenna, activate it online at the XM website, and you’re pretty much good to go.

In the Sacramento area, channels came in crystal-clear as they always have been and the quality is superb. The signal wasn’t dropped once and stayed strong at 5 bars. Also, the display is bright and easy to read from a distance and navigating the device was simple with the 5-way navigational knob. At the bottom of the device are 10 preset buttons for saving your favorite channels. As we mentioned earlier, the split screen display is a godsend, displaying information for four channels at once. When we switched back to the older RoadyXT, it just wasn’t the same.

The XM XpressRC is available for just under $120 USD at Amazon and is a great choice for those looking to join in on the satellite radio revolution.
