The inexpensive and tiny JBL On Stage Micro.

There are now tons of iPod speaker systems. From the most portable, to the most full featured and biggest systems, chances are there’s an iPod system for you. Today we’re taking a look at the JBL On Stage Micro, and by its name you can probably tell how small it really is.
The On Stage Micro is very portable, weighing only one pound, not that much bigger than the iPod Universal Dock from Apple, and comes in black and white, to match your particular iPod model. On the front are touch controls for volume, and the universal dock connector for your iPod. On the back you’ll find Audio In, USB, Power, Audio Out, and DC In. The system also has the ability to run off of four AAA batteries, perfect for the road warrior.

Thanks to the built-in USB port, which not all speakers have, you can replace your iPod’s dock with one that has a speaker built-in as well. And because it has USB, you can use it for synching your iPod, just like you normally do.
In terms of sound quality, the JBL On Stage Micro definitely packs some punch, but don’t expect too much from the miniscule device. Once you turn the volume up too high, there definitely is some noticeable distortion. Plus, the On Stage Micro doesn’t have a dedicated bass driver for the lows. If you’re only looking for something for your desk at work or your kitchen at home, this is perfect for something like that, but if you’re expecting it to fill, let’s say, a living room or a den, look for a larger system.
If you’re a constant traveler and can’t live without music, go for the JBL On Stage Micro, it’s compact and doesn’t sacrifice good sound for unnecessary features. It’s available for just under just under $100 bucks.
