With the new hands-free laws coming into effect in California and Washington on July 1st, we're continuing our Bluetooth headset week of reviews with a stylish headset from Plantronics, the Discovery 925. With it's new VFrame design and a rechargable case, is it "the" headset to get? Find out after the jump.

The Discovery 925 is a designer headset for both men and women who are looking for both a stylish and functional hands-free device for their mobile phones. The VFrame design is made to follow the contours of your face and put the microphone closer to your mouth for audio clarity. The headset also includes the Plantronics AudioIO noise cancelling technology, similar to what the Aliph New Jawbone headset had to offer.

The signature line of headsets come in three colors: Onxy Black, Alchemy Gold, and Cerise Pink. Each of these coming with a matching carrying case that also allows you to charge and stow the headset when not being used. You can also find three different sized eartips for creating a perfect fit in your ear. Also included is a USB cable for charging the headset through your notebook computer, and an AC adapter for plugging into a wall outlet.

We tested the Discovery 925 using the same phone we used for testing earlier in the week, the Nokia N95 8GB, and it was a breeze to pair with, thanks to the QuickPair technology which automatically puts it into pairing mode when first setup. We were really happy with the way the earpiece fit in our ear without the use of an earloop, and the headset didn't become uncomfortable after a few hours of use. Call quality was generally very good, though there was a slight echo in our voices as reported by our callers. When we tested the headset in a windy situation, it didn't perform as well since there isn't a windscreen.

One thing we found missing when testing the headset was a volume control, there's only a single button for controlling it, with different beeps corresponding to the level of volume. A rocker would have been nice, but this is only a small caveat.

All in all, the Plantronics Discovery 925 is the best headset of the bunch so far, but the real winner won't be unveiled until our final headset is reviewed on Friday. Find the Plantronics Discovery 925 for about $75 from Amazon.com.
