Apple has quietly updated its Time Capsule network backup product and router to include 2 terabytes of storage, and has discontinued the 500GB model, dropping the 1TB capacity down to $299. The 2TB model is available for $499. Both models ship today from the Apple Store online. If you’re not familiar with the Time Capsule, it allows you to use the Time Machine utility built into Mac OS X Leopard and backs up your Macs automatically over your wireless network. The Time Capsule also doubles as an AirPort Extreme Base Station, creating the wireless network needed for backups.
