Microsoft will have its first real competitor to the iPod touch later this fall with the new Zune HD, and Apple is expected to fight back. The Zune HD has a 3.3-inch OLED touch screen with a 480×272 resolution to play movies in true widescreen format. It’s the first media player to combine an HD Radio receiver, HD video output, and an OLED touch screen along with Wi-Fi and an internet browser.

The player will be available in a 16GB black version and a 32GB platinum version for $219.99 and $289.99 respectively. Both are available for pre-order through Amazon.com, Best Buy, Walmart, and Microsoft. Numerious accessories are also available including a Zune HD AV Dock which allows you to charge, sync, and play 720p high-def videos on your flat screen TV through a single HDMI cable.
