Sony has finally released the long-awaited update to the popular PlayStation 3 gaming console, the PS3 Slim. It’s been leaked on the internet throughout the last few months, but it’s nice to see that it’s actually real. The new slim PS3 will be available during the first week of September (September 1st in North America & Europe, September 3rd in Japan) and will retail for $300. It weighs only 7 pounds, packs in a 120GB hard drive, and is eco-friendly, using 34 percent less power and 32 percent less space.

The new 3.0 firmware for all PlayStation 3s will be released with the new slim PS3 and includes features such as BRAVIA Sync, which allows you to control your PS3 Xross Media Bar with the BRAVIA TV remote, and shutoff the PS3 when the BRAVIA shuts off.

Also available for the newer PS3 slim will be a vertical stand, however it is sold separately for $24.
