As we’ve said before, Lenovo has always been a strong leader in the notebook market, with their business-oriented ThinkPad line and their mainstream IdeaPad line of notebooks. After a leak on their website earlier today, the official word by way of Engadget & SlashGear, has been released. The new ThinkPad Edge starts off the new line with a new 13-inch model with an AMD Turion or Athlon Neo processor along with a multi-touch capable trackpad, and a reworked keyboard layout, all starting at $549 and available today. Larger 14- and 15-inch versions will arrive later this year and Best Buy will sell a version of the 14-inch.
Lenovo is also introducing their first “entry-level ultraportable”: the ThinkPad X100e. The X100e will pack in an Athlon Neo processor (both single- and dual-core versions) along with the Turion dual-core processor, and rounds it out with a full-size keyboard. It will also come with 802.11n WiFi standard, optional Bluetooth and 3G cell connectivity, and a model with a new “Heatwave Red” finish instead of the usual black matte. Judging from the starting price of $449, they could be trying to take a bite at the ever-popular netbook sector. Expect to get 2 hours of battery life with the 3-cell battery or 5 hours with the 6-cell.

Rounding out the new models are updates to the T and W series of ThinkPads with the new T410(s), T510, and W510 models. They pretty much stayed the same on the exterior, but on the inside it’s all new with the Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. The T410s will come with either a Core i5-520M or i5-540M processor, with the standard connectivity, while the T410 and T510 allow for the option of a Core i7-620M processor. The new W510, a 15.6-inch model, offers the choice of a Core i7-720QM, Core i7-820Q or Core 2 Extreme i7-920XM (how’s that for power?) processor and up to 16GB of RAM and Quadro FX 880M graphics from NVIDIA. The new models all have multi-touch trackpads like the Edge and will be on sale on January 7th. We’ll post the official press releases and photos as we get them.
