Skype is the go-to application for high-quality video chat for anyone looking to reconnect with old friends or chat with a business partner all using their webcam. They’re now bringing 720p video at 30fps to Skype for Windows, given you have a HD webcam, a PC with a 1.8GHz dual-core processor, and the latest Skype 4.2 Beta. Those HD webcams are due to arrive at CES later this week including one from faceVsion called the FV TouchCam N1, available in February for $99 with a microphone and $69 without. Skype is also bringing video to your internet-connected HDTV with near full-functionality of all Skype features.

They’re announcing partnerships with LG and Panasonic to offer HDTVs with Skype-enabled out of the box in the 2010 line of VIERA CAST-enabled Panasonic TVs and LG’s new models with NetCast Entertainment Access. Both lines from each manufacturer will be available in mid-2010.

More information at Skype’s website and at the Panasonic and LG booths at CES.
