The new reader is the first product to integrate the new Skiff e-reading service, and has a massive 11.5-inch touchscreen e-ink display with a resolution of 1200 x 1600 pixels. The new Skiff Reader can last over a week with average use and weighs just over one pound, pretty impressive. It is also the first consumer product to feature the latest generation e-ink display based on a flexible sheet of stainless-steel foil. Skiff signed a multi-year agreement with Sprint to provide the 3G cell connectivity for the device, similar to the Amazon Kindle and Whispernet. In addition, it will also support connection via WiFi for faster downloads.

Price and availability have not yet been announced, but we’ll keep an eye out for it.
