Sling Intros New Line of Products for TV Providers
Sling Media, makers of the incredibly popular SlingBox and SlingCatcher, are coming out with a series of products for television providers to make their way into the living room. You won't actually be able to buy these products directly, but who said a geek couldn't wish? We've got the rundown after the break.
First on the list is the new Sling Monitor 150, a portable flat-screen display that allows you to wirelessly shift your DVR's content to anywhere in your home without having to purchase a second DVR or run confusing cables. It is a free-standing monitor with the ability to accept a full HD stream (720p) over a wireless network. You can also manage your recordings and change channels since it acts just like a SlingBox and a SlingPlayer would. The Sling Monitor 150 will be available first from DISH Network, its first customer.

A neat product that I'd personally like to see come to DIRECTV or DISH Network is the Sling Touch Control 100, which is a touch-screen device similar to an iPhone or iPod touch that allows you to interact with your SlingGuide-enabled DVR (nowhere to be found, yet) and your line-of-sight controlled AV equipment all with the touch of a finger. It has a 4.3-inch capacitive touch-screen display and a cradle for charging. It communicates over a wireless network to your SlingGuide-enabled devices and over IR to your other devices.
Also joining these two products is the Sling Receiver 300 which offers similar functionality to a SlingCatcher, moving content around your home from your SlingLoaded DVR and the SlingBox 700U which adds HD Slingbox features to any compatible set-top box using a USB connection.
Sling Media hopes these products will help attract some new subscribers and keep current customers with compelling new products.
