If you’re looking for a small business all-in-one inkjet printer that is chock full of features, look no further than the Lexmark X9575 Professional wireless 4-in-1 printer. Is it up to speed for high volume business printing? Find out after the jump.

The X9575 Professional can print up to 33 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 28 pages per minute in color. The printer also has both wireless 802.11g networking as well as traditional Ethernet connectivity. You can load up to 50-pages in the automatic document feeder for quick copying and faxing in the office. You can also save paper with the automatic duplexer. On the front, you’ll find a control panel as well as a 2.4-inch LCD screen for previewing photos and copying documents.

Despite being a business-oriented printer, the X9575 also has photo printing capabilities directly from memory cards, PictBridge compatible digital cameras or flash drives. We setup the X9575 using the built-in wireless networking capability, and after nearly an hour of configuration tweaks, we finally got it setup. You may or may not have the same issues we had, depending on your connectivity options. To save on paper, Lexmark doesn’t include a printed manual, and requires you to use a PC or Mac to setup the printer.

We tested the photo printing capabilities first, taking over 4 minutes to print an 8×10 photo. We were highly disappointed with the photo quality, with too much contrast that made them washed out. When printing a 4×6 photo, the printer still wasn’t fast, coming in at just over 2 minutes to print.

Text quality wasn’t the best, with small font sizes looking the worst and it isn’t the best quality for most business documents (the group that this printer is oriented at).

After all the printer’s downfalls, the Lexmark X9575 Professional isn’t recommended for a small office that prints on an hourly basis. If you don’t print that much, the X9575 might be a viable option, but certainly not worth the $249.99 it costs.

Pros

Both wireless and wired networking connectivity.

Sleek design.

Automatic duplex functionality.

Cons

Sub-par text and photo quality.

Slow print speed.

Dubbed the world’s fastest document printer, the Epson Stylus C120 is perfect for small or home offices that rely on printing each and every day. At $69, is it worth buying?

The Epson Stylus C120 is a basic inkjet printer with a very minimalist design, printing up to 37 pages per minute in black, and up to 20 pages per minute in color (both in draft mode). Higher laser quality prints come out at 25 pages per minute in black and 11 pages per minute in color. Epson notes that the “World’s Fastest Document Inkjet” testing was done under default mode (laser quality) printing typical office documents.

In the box you’ll find the C120, two black cartridges, one cyan, one magenta, and one yellow cartridge as well as a power cable and documentation. No USB cable is included.

We’ve been testing the Stylus C120 for the past month or so and it’s perfect for a small office as Epson mentions on their website. It would have been nice to see network connectivity since a small office usually has more than one computer.

Print quality was overall very good, and this thing is fast! One-page documents came out in under 5 seconds and we were overall very impressed with the speed of the printer.

I would not hesitate one bit in recommending the Stylus C120, it’s perfect for college students and small offices looking for a fast and cheap inkjet printer. I would like to see more inkjet printers with networking capability out of the box however, but there are always USB print servers around.

The Epson Stylus C120 is available today from Amazon.com for $69.99 with free shipping. A great deal it is.

Pros

Great print quality.

Fastest inkjet printer we’ve seen.

Cons

No networking capability.

Final Verdict
5 out of 5 stars.

I was recently sent a review unit of the brand new Epson Stylus CX9400Fax all-in-one inkjet printer. It’s the perfect all-in-one for a small home office or business, but it isn’t all about documents, it’s actually a great photo printer as well. Is it right for you? Read on for the scoop.

The Epson Stylus CX9400Fax, as you can probably tell by the model number, is an all-in-one copy, scan, photo, and fax inkjet printer. On the front is a large 2.5-inch LCD for sending faxes, copying documents, and printing out your favorite memories. Also on the front are slots for popping in a memory card of your choice (including the latest SDHC format).

The CX9400Fax uses the same ink for both documents and photos, unlike printers I’ve used in the past where you would have to keep an extra set of ink laying around just for printing photos. Inside the CX9400Fax are four individual ink cartridges, which saves money on ink by replacing only the color you need.

The interface on the printer is very well designed and allows you to easily get to the task at hand, it also clearly shows the ink levels when printing, both on the printer and on your computer screen.

In our testing, we tested all aspects of the printer, from basic document printing to photo printing. The CX9400Fax is exceptionally fast, printing out a page in less than a minute depending on how complex the document is. Copying and scanning couldn’t be simpler, thanks to the automatic document feeder and the traditional scanning method. Faxing was also very simple and very straight-forward. Enter the number you want to fax to, put in the sheets of paper you want to fax and press dial. You can’t fax directly from a computer however.

In our photo printing test, we printed a variety of photos and compared them to previous prints from other printers. Prints from the CX9400Fax were vivid and crisp, similar to the results from the PictureMate Dash we reviewed in December of 2007.

All in all, the Epson Stylus CX9400Fax is an excellent all-in-one for the small home office, or small business and does the job fast and efficient. The CX9400Fax is available today for just under $120 from Amazon.com.

Pros

Accepts a variety of memory cards for photo printing.

Automatic document feeder.

Large 2.5-inch LCD.

No need for extra “photo” ink.

Easy to use and not too bulky for small rooms.

Excellent print quality.

Cons

Can’t fax directly from Windows or Mac.

Final Verdict
4.5 out of 5 stars.

Have you ever been at a party and taken great photos, but have never been able to provide prints on the spot? Wouldn’t it be great to be there with a little printer that runs on batteries and pops out 4×6″ prints in less than a minute? Well, that’s exactly what the Epson PictureMate Dash is for.

As part of Epson’s personal photo lab line of printers, the PictureMate Dash is the little brother to the PictureMate Zoom which has a built-in CD burner for archiving photos. Both models have a built-in 3.6″ LCD display and work without a PC. The printers support CompactFlash, SD/MMC, Memory Stick, Microdrive, and xD memory cards – so you’re camera should be covered here.

Instead of lugging around the power adapter, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery is available ($50) which slides into the back of the unit and provides you with complete portability.

As I mentioned in the beginning, the PictureMate Dash is a 4×6 printer, so if you’re looking for bigger sizes, you still may want to stick with a higher-end printer (even if it isn’t so portable). But, the PictureMate is perfect for the holiday parties where party-animals can get their pictures printed on the spot.

In our testing, we printed three different test images, testing the printer’s print quality, and speed. From the time we hit the Print button to the time the print finished, it took 45 seconds – Epson’s 37 seconds is measured from the start of paper feed, but 45 seconds is still pretty fast for a photo printer. In print quality, the Epson did a great job at reproducing sharp and vibrant images.

You can still hook up a PC to the PictureMate Dash and use your favorite photo editing software (or the included ArcSoft PhotoImpression) to print, but the luxury of toting this thing around everywhere is a great thing to have.

At $99, this is perfect for this holiday season’s Kodak (or Epson) moments, and earns our rating of 5 out of 5 stars. The PictureMate Zoom retails for $100 bucks more at $199.

Pros

Good color reproduction.

Fast print speed (45 seconds).

Battery option for ultimate portability.

Large 3.6″ LCD

Cons

None.

Final Verdict
5 out of 5 stars

Photo printer reviews is something new we’re doing at ConnectReviews, and to kick it off right we’ve got a great midrange photo printer from Epson, the Stylus Photo R380.

The Stylus Photo R380 is packed with features, from the huge 3.5″ color display on the front for navigating through photos, to the fast printing speeds – the R380 has it all. It also has the ability to print directly onto special CDs or DVDs that are made for printing.

As with most photo printers, you also have the option to print without a computer from a memory card or from a PictBridge compatible camera. In our photo testing performance tests, the printer cranked out a 5×7 photo in less than 30 seconds or a 4×6 photo just under 15 seconds, and photo quality was amazing on all photo sizes. Crisp, clear images, and vivid colors thanks to Epson’s Claria ink that lasts longer than other inks.

And when the ink ran out, we loved the ability to switch out individual ink cartridges for each color – rather than a tri-color cartridge.

All in all, the Epson Stylus Photo R380 is an excellent photo printer for the amateur photographer or the entry level digital SLR user who wants to print out quality prints, at a low price. The R380 is available today for less than $110 depending on where you look. An all-in-one version is also available.

Pros

Great print quality.

Fast print speed.

Large screen for viewing photos.

Ability to print on CDs and DVDs.

Individual ink cartridges.

Whenever I think of the name Xerox, I think high-quality color laser and multifunction copiers. The Phaser 6180N that we’ll be reviewing today is a mid-range color laser from Xerox and has tons of great features.

The Phaser 6180N is equipped with Ethernet networking for sharing the printer over a wired network. It also supports USB and the older legacy Parallel port. Setting it up was no easy job. Xerox recommends that you set it up with two people, since the printer weighs about 60 pounds. And if you can’t figure out how to set it up, Xerox includes an installation video on the driver disk and a manual with illustrations to help you out.

Jumping over to performance, the 6180N is a speed demon. Printing out a page in less than 10 seconds, text was extremely crisp and colors were bright and vivid. When we tried printing a high resolution Photoshop document over Ethernet the printer was excruciatingly slow – over 2-3 minutes to print 1 page. In our photo tests, printing out a full color page produced a slightly grainy image – but since this printer is mostly marketed at the business, we aren’t surprised.

We were very impressed with this printer, since most color lasers only print at a minimum of 5 pages per minute. At $449, this is a great printer for a small or medium sized business and a $599 version is available with standard two-sided duplexing.

Lexmark has always been one of the major manufacturers of consumer-oriented printers in both inkjet and laser versions. Today, I take a look at one of their newest laser printers geared towards the home office or small business, the E450dn.

The E450dn isn’t a small printer per say, but it isn’t made for the home user. The E450dn comes with the basics: the printer itself, a power cable, and the black toner cartridge. I will mention that the printer is a black and white printer so if you’re looking for a color printer, you’re looking in the wrong place. The E450dn can be connected to either your computer or your network with a USB or parallel cable, or for networking, a standard ethernet cable.

Lexmark claims that the printer can print up to 35 pages per minute and prints the first page in as little in 7 seconds. In our tests we noticed that it took 8.24 seconds from the time we clicked Print to the time the printer stopped on a 1 page Word document. When printing a 5 page document, it took 13.77 seconds to complete. This printer is a speed demon.

For print quality, text was crisp, clear, and easy-to-read while graphics and images generally weren’t the best quality, they still weren’t bad enough to throw away. But, this printer is made for printing text and subtle graphics, not full-page graphics, photos, and things like that.

The Lexmark E450dn is a little noisy, and sometimes, made random pulses like it was starting a job, but really wasn’t. One thing that could be a problem is that when a print job starts, it does make the lights flickered on and off in our testing area, not sure if anyone else purchasing this printer will experience the same.

Overall, the E450dn laser printer from Lexmark is a great workhorse laser printer for small businesses and home offices but it isn’t the cheapest, running you about $600 USD. Lexmark does offer alternative models as low as $150 USD.

Pros
Fast printing speeds.
Crisp text.
Networking capability.
Legacy Parallel port.

Cons
Noisy.
Not the best at graphics and images.
Expensive.

Final Verdict
4 out of 5 stars.

Have you ever tried making labels with tedious processes such as using Microsoft Word or an old fashioned permanent marker? Now that the holidays are coming up, you should consider buying a professional label printer. The LabelWriter Twin Turbo from Dymo might just be perfect for you.

The LabelWriter Twin Turbo from Dymo uses a next-generation thermal technology so you never have to replace the ink cartridges unlike using a regular inkjet printer. Dymo also makes available many different sizes of labels to your demand, from postage-stamp sized labels for the Dymo Stamps service (which we’ll get to later), to the extra large shipping labels for those packages of yours, there’s a size and label for any kind of project. In addition to not using ink, the LabelWriter Twin Turbo is blazing fast, spitting out one label in less than 10 seconds.

Now, the pièce de résistance is DYMO Stamps. Tired of going to the post office and waiting in line for postage? No problem, every one of Dymo’s professional label printers include the Stamps service which allows you to print only the postage you need instead of buying a whole sheet of stamps. We found this service astronomical in our testing, and would use it full time if we needed to. It’s great for shipping out holiday cards.

The software included with the labeler was no Adobe Photoshop, but it met our demands, with various tools to insert text and images into your labels. Yes, you heard right, images can be printed with the Twin Turbo, but unfortunately only in black and white. Hey, Dymo folks, let’s see a color printer soon!

Overall, we found the Dymo LabelWriter Twin Turbo to perform well and produced no flaws in its printing abilities. Go out and buy one if you see the need for it, because of the price range, it’s probably not for everyone but it’s highly recommended.

The Dymo LabelWriter Twin Turbo and other fine label printers from Dymo are available at your local office and electronic supply store ranging from $109.99 to $209.99 depending on the model. For more about the LabelWriter Twin Turbo, visit Dymo’s website.
