Apple Announces WWDC 2011 Dates

The countdown is on to Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference where the company is set to unveil the next versions of its iOS and Mac OS X operating systems to its developer base. Apple announced on Monday that it has scheduled WWDC 2011 to be held June 6-10 at the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco.

“At this year’s conference we are going to unveil the future of iOS and Mac OS,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “If you are an iOS or Mac OS X software developer, this is the event that you do not want to miss.”

Over 100 sessions will be available with over 1,000 Apple engineers on-site to answer questions and give one-on-one feedback to attendees.

New Changes to ConnectReviews

You may have noticed some changes to ConnectReviews recently, and that’s because we’ve upgraded our design to the awesome Mimbo Pro 2 theme which builds on top of the great Mimbo Pro theme we were using until today. Not a whole lot has changed in terms of design, but there are code refinements and other cool new features which help us bring more content to you, the reader.

Starting today, we’re launching a new section here on ConnectReviews, called First Looks. Instead of posting a review of a product every couple of days, we’ll also be posting the latest product announcements as they happen. You can always find the latest first looks here, and on the “carousel” below the main post on our home page.

While we do admit that we haven’t been posting as frequently as we used to, we will try to bring you unique content every day, whether it be a review, a how-to, or a first look on a cool product that we like.

We do welcome your feedback on the new layout, so feel free to leave a comment below.

Video: Blog Action Day 2008

We’re turning away from our traditional review format for one day this week, October 15th. It’s something called Blog Action Day, and is an annual event for bloggers to talk to the public about a single topic. Last year’s topic was global warming, this year’s is poverty. Poverty is an increasing problem in the world that we live in, and there are plenty of ways you can spread the word to help. It may sound complex, but there are simple things to do as well. You can donate your blog’s daily earnings to a charity, foundation, or donor like Kiva.org microloans and The Global Fund. Watch the video below and do your part. We’ll be back on this topic on Wednesday.

MacSpark: BusySync review and giveaway!

We hope you like the new website as much as we do, and you might notice it loads a little faster than before. New iPhone / iPod touch Icon for ConnectReviews

The iPhone 1.1.3 update that was released on Tuesday at Macworld added the functionality to add webclips to your home screen of your favorite websites and web applications. We’ve added our own icon to the mix, which will automatically be detected when adding ConnectReviews as a webclip.

In addition to adding the icon, ConnectReviews is also iPhone and iPod touch-optimized thanks to the iWPhone plugin.

Macworld Expo 2008 Coverage at MacSpark This Week!

Our sister site MacSpark will be covering Macworld Expo 2008 in San Francisco later this week, starting with our Steve Jobs keynote coverage on Tuesday at live.macspark.net. They’ll provide you with photos and commentary on the latest Mac and iPod products from the expo floor.
