Netgear just unveiled their latest powerline networking product and WiFi gaming adapter at their press conference this morning in Las Vegas. The Powerline 500 Nano is the smallest form factor powerline networking adapter with top speed and plug-and-play setup, while the N900 adapter allows gamers to connect up to four Ethernet devices and connect them to a wireless network.

The Powerline 500 Nano is rated for speeds up to 500 Mbps, fast enough to stream HD and 3D HD video, multiplayer gaming, and other heavy bandwidth tasks. The product has Netgear’s “Pick-a-Plug” feature, testing any electrical outlet and displaying a color-coded LED to determine which outlet gives the best possible performance.

In addition to Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 Hybrid and T430u ultrabook announcement, they’ve also announced a slew of new ThinkPad Edge laptops catered towards the small/medium business market. The new laptops range from the stylish new ThinkPad Edge S430 to the performance-geared ThinkPad Edge E430 and E530.

The new Edge S430 laptop in Mocha Black is aimed towards “image conscious professionals” with its soft-touch finish and metal accented design. The S430 features a 14-inch screen, the latest Intel Core processors, a DVD burner or second hard drive (this should be a trend we’ll see at CES next week), and the choice of Intel integrated or NVIDIA Optimus graphics. The laptop also includes Dolby Home Theater v4 technology, USB 3 ports, Intel Thunderbolt technology, and Lenovo Solution Center for remote management for deploying updates and energy savings. The Edge S430 will be available in June in select markets starting at approximately $749.

The new 14-inch Edge E430 and 15-inch E530 feature the latest Intel Core processors or AMD Fusion APUs on select models, again with choices of discrete or integrated graphics. The laptops can be configured with up to 1 TB of storage combined with a SSD and feature USB 3 ports and a high-resolution webcam. Customers have the option of Midnight Black, Heatwave Red or Cobalt Blue lids with the same sleek design from the S430. The Edge E430 and E530 will be available in April starting at approximately $549.

A 11-inch and 13-inch version of the Edge, dubbed the E130/E330 with Intel processors and E135/E335 with AMD Vision Accelerated processors, will be available only in select markets this year.

Finishing out the new SMB portfolio are the Lenovo B Series laptops, now featuring Intel Core processors on the B480 and B580 models and AMD Fusion APUs on the B485 and B585 models with the option of integrated or discrete graphics. You’ll find up to 1 TB of storage, USB 3 ports, an HDMI output and a 4-in-1 multimedia card reader. These also feature Lenovo Solution Center and will be available starting at $499 in select markets.

Lenovo has just taken the wraps off its latest ThinkPad products ahead of CES in Las Vegas next week: the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid laptop and the T430u ultrabook. The latter of which is the company's second foray into the category, following the IdeaPad U300s. Check out what's new after the jump.

The X1 Hybrid is the successor to the X1, Lenovo’s ultra thin-and-light notebook that was introduced in June of last year. The new X1 Hybrid has double the battery life, with up to ten hours of battery life using the new Instant Media Mode functionality, where the “Hybrid” moniker comes in. The Instant Media Mode functions off of a dual core Qualcomm processor, up to 16 GB of memory and a Linux-based operating system. Users can switch from Windows to the IMM by simply clicking on an icon. In the IMM, users can view photos, listen to music, browse the Internet, work on documents (what kind of documents are unknown, at this point), and watch video content.

The X1 Hybrid weighs less than four pounds, measures less than 0.6 inches and doesn’t sacrifice on power. The laptop can be configured with up to an Intel Core i7 processor. Brought over from the original X1, the Hybrid features the same Corning Gorilla Glass display and webcam and microphone for video conferencing capabilities. Also included is Dolby Home Theater v4 sound, HDMI output and Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) technology.

Find the ThinkPad X1 Hybrid this Spring starting at $1599.

Rounding out the ThinkPad announcement is the new T430u ultrabook, which we’ll see a lot of next week at the International CES in Las Vegas. The new 14-inch ultrabook is less than 0.8 inches thick and less than four pounds, with your choice of a third-generation Intel Core processor and integrated Intel or discrete NVIDIA graphics. For storage, you have the choice of an SSD or up to a 1 terabyte hard drive. The T430u features up to six hours of battery life and will be available in Q3 of this year starting at $849.

The newest phone to the Droid lineup over at Verizon Wireless is finally here with the Droid 2. The Droid 2 is ultimately the successor to the original Droid that was introduced in late 2009 and has some great improvements. The phone runs Android 2.2 and includes a new keyboard, increased processing power, Flash Player 10.1 and Mobile Hotspot functionality. Some things haven’t changed, namely the 3.7-inch multi-touch display and 5 megapixel camera.

The Droid 2 has 8GB of on-board memory and comes with an 8GB microSD card with support for up to 40GB of total storage. Verizon Wireless is also planning to release an R2-D2 limited-edition version of the Droid 2, which will be available online only in September. This special edition will feature Star Wars content and a design reminiscent of the Droid from the film. Want to see it early? If you’re in Florida, head on over to the Star Wars Celebration V in Orlando and see a preview.

Otherwise, the Droid 2 will be available online tomorrow and in retail stores starting August 12th for $199.99 after a $100 rebate and two-year contract. Mobile Hotspot functionality will cost an extra $20 per month. Any current Verizon customers can upgrade to any smartphone without extra fees if their contract is scheduled to end by December 31, 2010.

The new Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S smartphone just hit our doorstep and we’ve got an unboxing of the device after the break. As we mentioned in our first look, it comes pre-loaded with a variety of entertainment content including MobiTV, the movie Avatar and Slacker Radio. It also comes with the Amazon Kindle for Android application and a free month of Gogo in-flight internet access.

Spec wise, the Vibrant has a 4-inch AMOLED touch screen, the Samsung Cortex A8 1GHz processor, a six-axis sensor for gaming, a 5.0 megapixel camera with autofocus (and 720p video) and access to T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network. The phone runs Android version 2.1 (no Froyo here).

The phone comes in a box similar to that of the Apple iPhone, with the phone being the first thing you see after opening it and the accessories stacked below it. The Vibrant comes with just a USB charging cable, power adapter, and wired headset. The AMOLED screen is fairly bright at its default setting (1/3 of full) but does have somewhat of a blue tint to it. While the plastic enclosure does feel a tad cheap, it is solid and comfortable to hold in your hand.

We’ll have our full review in a couple of weeks.

Panasonic today announced the successor to its high-end LX3 digital camera with the Lumix LX5. The new LX5 has a bright F2.0 24mm wide-angle lens, which minimizes image distortion while also offering a 3.8x optical zoom (equivalent to a 90mm lens). The camera has the same great 10.1 megapixel CCD as the LX3, but brings an expanded dynamic range to the table by increasing saturation and sensitivity.

The Lumix LX5 also has the Venus Engine FHD image processor which equates to faster performance overall. The LX5 can shoot HD video in the AVCHD Lite format, and includes a Creative Movie mode where you can set shutter speed and aperture manually just like a video-capable digital SLR.

The inside isn’t the only thing that has changed either, the grip is now thicker on the outside making it easier to hold, and the new turn-and-push jog dial allows you to select mode and settings more quickly than before. On the back is a 3.0-inch LCD which is now more visible in conditions in the dark and in bright sunlight.

The Pansonic Lumix DMC-LX5 will be available in late August for $499.95 in black and white models.

The Seagate GoFlex Home package consists of a Seagate GoFlex Desk hard drive that connects to a dock where there is a USB port, Ethernet jack, and power connector. It was fairly easy to set up; we plugged the power adapter and Ethernet cable in and it was ready to use in less than 5 minutes after installing the software.

The drive, which is turned into a simplified NAS (network attached storage) device, is accessible via both your PC and Mac, as well as any web browser from a remote location. The system is also compatible with Time Machine, the backup functionality built-in to Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

We’ll have our full review in a few weeks, but for now we’ve included a few more photos and screenshots below.
